Welcome to February’s pictures! Well, slightly late again, but better late than never. February was relatively uneventful. Basketball continued and that was a chore. Trying to manage two basketball teams was quite the challenge. Coupled with jobs, school, and everything else that makes up our daily lives, things got a bit hectic. Needless to say, we believe that was our last coaching season for any sport. We have Haley signed up for the Pack girl’s softball competitive league here in Brighton. We’re really hoping it lives up to the hype and their staff is as good as they bill themselves. The folks seem nice and we will start seeing the team in full swing in April. Brianna and Haley are both doing very well in school and consistently score well above district and state averages. We’re pleased and are much more happy that the conversations with the school revolve around making sure the kids have enough to do vice why they are not doing well. They are both so smart and have interesting things to say. Let me give you an example of the smarts Brianna exhibits. The other day, she approached Liz and told her she knows how to spell second. Liz asked her to go for it. Brianna’s response? “It’s spelled two-n-d!” for 2nd. I about died laughing. More wittiness from Brianna was displayed yesterday when her and another girl her age were playing in our backyard. Brianna asks the girl if she watches the news and the girl replied, “No, it’s too boring.” Brianna proceeded to ask her how she would know about what’s going on with the crisis in Japan? Again, you have to laugh, but the realization that these kids pick up on much more than is immediately evident is refreshing and surprising. They are gems and pains in the butt at the same time. Liz is taking an 8 week break from her masters courses, but is looking forward to getting back at it in May. I am taking the scariest thing imaginable with Business Statistics and Financial Accounting. The thing is, they are both interesting and I enjoy them because I’ve seen the business need for all the information I am learning. These two classes will certainly challenge the 4.0 GPA I have, but I think I can do it. Our jobs are going well. LenderLive treats me very well so I can’t complain. Liz continues to enjoy her position and coworkers. All in all, a far better situation than the one we were in last year. With that in mind, we decided to upgrade our Jeep Grand Cherokee. We wanted to get back into something with a third row and far less miles. We traded the Jeep in on a 2007 Land Rover LR3. It’s probably the nicest car we’ve ever had. Paying cash for it allows us to enjoy it even more. With only 41K miles on it, it will be a vehicle we can have for a long time. We even got an additional one year warranty on it so we couldn’t be more happier. Since our 8 month vacation last year, we’ve been pleased to set aside a considerable amount of funds in investments for the first time in our lives. I have to say it feels good to leverage some capital and get a reasonable return on investment. Now if the markets would quit crapping out, it would certainly help more. School has taught me some things about financial instruments and that is most helpful these days. That about covers February. Look for March pictures to be up a little sooner. The goal is to get closer to the beginning of the month for posting the previous month’s shots. At least that’s the idea! Check out our YouTube channel.
